Learning and teaching are at the core of our mission.
Large parts of our culture have disconnected from what sustains healthy living:
- Healthy Land
- Healthy Food
- Healthy Community
The path forward we see requires cultural change which can only come through education.
Not by preaching, but by sharing experiences with each other and the land.
Brian Donahue calls this the “dirt and splinters brand of environmental education” that “makes the difference between seeing nature as a dispensable form of entertainment and feeling it as an essential part of our lives.” Page 305 in Reclaiming the Commons
We are working with Global Source Education to develop curriculum with local schools to ensure the next generation understands the connections between food, farming, and culture. Dialogues with local educators and community resources have already begun. Read about these dialogues here
