Please help out at the first of three Saturdays getting ready for the annual Harvest Fair at the Johnson Farm on Fletcher Bay Road. We will spend the first Saturday weed eating and trimming the farm up. There are apples to pick for the cider pressing, a beautiful farm to be on, and good farm friends. September 12th 10 - 2 PM. We’re hosting a Spring Celebration on May 9th at 4 pm at Johnson Farm (home of the Harvest Fair).  C’mon down to the farm for a picnic potluck to celebrate the spring and learn about what is happening on your public farmland.   Activities will include fruit tree planting in the orchard, guided tours of the farm and a delicious community meal!  Rain or shine (although we’ll have tents).  Beverages and a grill provided.  For directions or questions, please call our message line at 842-5537, email Christy Carr <chcarr@w-link.net>.

Johnson Farm is located on the west side of Fletcher Bay Road approximately 1/2 mile south of High School Road.

There has been tremendous interest in the p-patches at Johnson Farm and all of the plots are taken. If you are still interested and would like to be on a waiting list, please contact Christy Carr. If there is significant interest, additional p-patches may be added in the future.

Also, we have a list of several private property owners who would welcome you to garden on their property. These properties would be available this growing season. If this is a situation that may fit your gardening needs, please contact us for a list of available garden properties and contact information. So many ways to get growing!

The Trust for Working Landscapes (TWL) is pleased to announce the availability of public garden plots (“p-patches”) at the Johnson Farm.

Each plot will be 200 square feet in area. At this point, a tilled plot space, water, minimal deer fencing and tool storage will be provided. Future infrastructure will depend on available funding and volunteer participation. A work party is planned for Saturday, March 21st from 10 am to 2 pm. This is the time to get digging! The Historical Society will also be at the work party planting Marshall strawberries in the p-patch area.

Johnson Farm is located on the west side of Fletcher Bay Road approximately ½ mile from High School Road. Fourteen plots are available on a first-come, first-served basis. A sign up sheet will be available on March 2 at the Sustainable First Monday Community Gardens, P-Patches and Backyard Gardens.
